Somewhere along the way, I picked up some grandfatherly advice: “Always tell the truth – it’s easier to remember.” It starts to become interesting when you consider that along with the ‘…too good to be true…’ type of statement.
Somehow when we decide to lie, we feel the need to ‘pump it up a bit’ to make it seem more plausible. So something that is just untrue quickly becomes… yup… too good to be true.
And one other thing I figured out – telling the truth is a lot less work.
I am so VERY far from perfect; but I am trying to be a better person. I know I can only accomplish that with God’s help. Like I’ve said before, it’s a journey; some parts are easier than others…
Speak the truth in all things; the truth does not need embellishment.
So here’s a quote from Colossians 3, 9 and 10:
Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete.
