If you remember the show, (yeah, I know 1987 is a long way back to remember) they had a lot of ‘pretend technology’ where they had combined old with new in wild ways. For instance, the computer keyboards were old typewriters, the monitors were early CRTs, and so on.
Warehouse 13 on SciFy channel has cherry-picked some of these ideas, and done them at least a half dozen steps better.
Anyway, I saw this in the New York Times this morning, and I thought the computer keyboard adaptation was WAY cool. My love of the printed word came from learning to type on a manual, typed for years on them, and I’m still hard on computer keyboards as a result.
I do have an Underwood #6 in the garage that I’m trying to get around to refurbishing…
