U.S. Flags made in … China?

Those of you who know me know that I’m big on buying American whenever it makes sense to do so. I try to have a balanced approach; after all, there are some things that we just plain don’t do as well at as other countries do.

But given all the money that pours overseas to China in support of products that are made using questionable materials and methods; using slave and forced labor (your Chinese-made Christmas lights are made by political prisoners), I try to buy from other countries other than China whenever possible. In other words, Anywhere But China.

But here’s something that’s just … wrong. We have several really good manufacturers of American flags in our country,  and Annin Flagmaker is the biggest. They wish to point out that last year $3.5 million dollars’ worth of flags were bought from China.

Time to start looking more closely at the Country of Origin tag on your items.

Support countries that respect human rights.

Please think about where your dollar goes. Might cost you a quarter to buy elsewhere, but isn’t it worth it?

Anywhere But China.
