I know this year that I will be called upon to give the blessing, and so I set out to write one.
Meanwhile, may your Thanksgiving celebration find you well and noticing the good things that God has placed in your life.
So here we go. Let’s go stand in front of the Throne of God:
We come before your throne in gratefulness for all the things you have given and shown to us over this last year, and indeed, for our lifetimes.
Thank you that you continue to work in our lives and our hearts, and we praise and glorify your name. May your Name be glorified through what you do in us and through us; and may we show your character in all we do.
Thank you for this circle of loved ones and friends. Thank you for the warmth of the hand holding ours. Thank you for the person who cares that we are there.
Thank you indeed for those who love us, and for those whom we love.
Thank you for the wisdom you have projected into our lives; that we may hear it as you provide it, and indeed, may we have the “smarts” to listen, and to heed it.
Help us to remember the One who said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
In your name, we share a meal.
In your name, we give our deepest thanks.
(Affirmation) So shall it be!
